Service will be 1:00 P.M. on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Davis Chapel Church, Navassa, NC. Visitation is from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in the Mears Cemetery.  Jaquan Montre King was born on July 11, 1999, in Wilmington, North Carolina to Shawanna Oliver and Clarence King. He departed this earthly life on October 10, 2023. Jaquan was educated in the Brunswick County Public School System and graduated from Brunswick Academy in 2019.  Jaquan was employed by College Hunks and Walmart.  Jaquan was a part of the Navassa Drum and Drill team during his youth. Jaquan enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, his son, Montre King.  He also loved breeding dogs, writing music, and shooting at the gun range. He also loved fishing.  Jaquan was loved by everyone.  He kept everybody laughing with his sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Ella Mae King and grandfather Foster King.  He was also preceded in death by his grandfather Milton Steward.  He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving mother, Shawanna Oliver of Wilmington, father Clarence King, step-father, Shamon Kinston, one son Montre King;  one brother, Jashaad King;  four sisters, Shaniya and Asani Oliver, Kayla Jordan, and Serena Williams; grandmother, Margie Oliver; god mother, Ebony Pressley; a very special person in his life Ke'Mya Hooper; special friends/ family, Marc, Devin, Jooks, Dustin, Veronica Mosley, Sunny Briggs, Aaron Gibbs and Tevin Lee; two mentors, Rodney Beatty, and William Alston; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
