Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Warner Temple AME Zion Church.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.  NO PUBLIC VIEWING

Ms. Janie Maria Robbins Jacobs , beloved daughter of the late Charles Leonard and Dorothy Riley Robbins, departed this life on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Novant Health/New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Janie was born in Wilmington, North Carolina on August 17, 1955. She graduated from New Hanover High School in 1974 and attended Miller Motte Business College. Janie retired from Duke Energy Corporation in 2016 after 32 years of service. Janie was a loving, thoughtful, and amazing sister and we were so incredibly blessed to have her in our lives. Her passion was reading and writing. Before her health declined, she would curl up on the sofa with a good book with "Pookie" at her feet.  She also loved spending time with her family which included bowling, playing Scrabble, collecting figurines, cooking, birthday get togethers, cookouts and holiday gatherings. We take comfort in knowing that Janie knew that she was deeply loved.  She leaves to lovingly cherish her memory:  sisters, Beverly Anne Robbins and Blanchie Robbins Anthony; a very special cousin with whom she shared a brother/sister relationship, Clarence Riley; one aunt, Shirley H. Matthews (Vincent); one uncle, William Henry (Jennifer); 3 god  children, Yzonse Riley, Zavianna Riley and Tay'vion White; her spoiled four-legged ride or die buddy, "Pookie"; special friends, Brenda Williams, Carnell Allen and Linda Sidberry Gaddis; along with a host of loving cousins and friends.
