Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the Community Boys and Girls Club. Visitation is from 5:30-8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Jamel Conyers was born on July 6, 1975, to the late Lonnie Conyers and Diane Conyers.  After a hard fight with pancreatic cancer.  Jamel entered into a peaceful rest on August 3, 2022, surrounded by loved ones in Staten Island, NY.  Jamel graduated from Laney High School, where he played Varsity Basketball, in 1993.  He began his dive into serving the community during his employment at Little Friends (which later became Childcare Network).  However, the job that he loved most, where he touched the most hearts, was the Community Boys and Girls Club of Wilmington.  He was a full-time employee there for decades until he fell ill and became a volunteer.  Jamel coached several different sports, played Semi-pro football for the Wilmington Tigers, enjoyed surfing, and loved a good game of basketball.   Aside from sports, Jamel also found joy in deejaying, cutting hair, and drawing. One of the biggest roles that Jamel fulfilled was that of "Favorite".  He was everyone's favorite, friend, uncle, brother, coach, and person, he was top pick.  He was beloved, treasured, and respected by everyone who experienced his presence.  He had the biggest heart and always figured out a way to help.  He was not only a great father to his children but served as a consistent male figure and mentor to a generation of children in his community.  Jamel leaves to cherish his memory, a loving mother, Diane Conyers of Wilmington, NC; two children, Jabez Howard and Julia Conyers of Wilmington, NC; one sister, Katrina Meyers (Paul) of Staten Island, NY; two brothers, Antonio Daise and Lonnell Conyers of Wilmington, NC;  five nieces, Shiniece Gaines, Ta'Neisha Daise, Tanasia Matthews, and Shameque and Mattereca Johnson all of Wilmington, NC; five nephews, Ronald Robinson of Greensboro, NC, Darius, Shauntonio, and Mostafa Daise, and Adam Johnson all of Wilmington, NC; two uncles, William Conyers, Jr. (Debra) and Marvin Daise (Gidget) of Wilmington, NC; and special friends, James Graham, Nikita Beckett, Ahkeim Rumbeau, Ronald Harrison, Lamont Gause, Jeff and Jennifer Slagel, LaTrea Beckett, Adolph Richard II and Carmen Jones.  Jamel also leaves to cherish his memory a host of family, friends, extended family, and the community in whole.

Jamel rests peacefully with his grandmother, "Kat"; father, "Dip", and granddaughter, Jehlani Howard.
