Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2025 at Summerville AME Zion Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday @ 1016 Fanning Street.
Jacqueline Grady, beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this life on October 2, 2025. She was born on February 5, 1963, to the late Catherine G. Hooper. Jacqueline was a proud graduate of North Brunswick High School, Class of 1981. She was a faithful member of Summerville AME Zion Church in Leland, NC, where she served diligently as the church custodian and was a member of Class #2. She also lent a helping hand in the church kitchen whenever needed. Her quiet dedication and willing heart were a blessing to all who knew her. Jacqueline loved spending time with her family and friends. Her presence brought comfort, laughter, and love, and her memory will be cherished by many. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Catherine G. Hooper, and her eldest brother, Carl Grady. She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy: her devoted daughter, L'Shonta S. Grady; stepfather, Deacon Thomas Hooper, Sr.; a faithful sister, Marilynn G. McClammy (Thurman); and a devoted brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Hooper, Jr. (Barbara). She is also survived by her sisters Teresa Everette (William) and Cordette Dalton (Dave); brother Gregglin White (Patricia); her special aunt, Ruby Ballard; uncles John H. Grady (Maxine); Harvey Grady; and a host of cherished cousins, Including Dionya Grady-Wright, Michelle Graham, Brenda Brown, Annie Johnson, Valerie Parham, Norman and Evangelist Linda Southerland, Beulah Dixie, Charles & Brenda Grady and Alethia Grady. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, her loving church family, kind neighbor Robert Lee Jenkins, faithful taxi driver, especially on Sunday's, Marcus Ballard, and many other relatives and friends whose lives she touched.
