Herman Lee Ballard, age 78, son of the late Willie and Mary Elizabeth Grady Ballard was born on December 26, 1945, and transitioned to eternal rest on Monday, September 16, 2024.  He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 32 years Mrs. Carol Robbins Ballard, his brother's Willie James. Jr., and James Edward Ballard "Jimmie".  Herman joined Summerville at an early age.  He served faithfully as a member of the Trustee Board, Men's Choir and Usher until his death.  He was educated in the Brunswick County School system and worked together with his brother Jimmie at International Paper.  Herman retired from International Paper.  He did manage to secure a few lawn care jobs after retirement. His all-time favorite was winning Fishing Tournaments beginning in 1996.  He was more than likely to be in 1st or 2nd place.  The trophies on his mantel are proof.  He had the biggest smile on his face and earned bragging rights.  He was an avid deer hunter as well.  Above all, his most prized possessions were his children, grandchildren and most recently his great-grand twins.  He would share their success, but as much as they tried to persuade him, he struck firm to his decision of not flying or cruising to celebrate events!  Surviving to cherish memories of Herman; his wife, Louvera Ballard of the home, daughters, Beverly Ballard Diaz (Luis) of FL, Antionette Ballard Polk (Anthony) of VA., sons, Herman Ballard, Jr. of Leland, NC., Harvey Ballard (Denise) of Charlotte, NC; 5  grandchildren; LaToya, Duward, Victoria (Mychal), Darius and Justice, 3 great grandchildren; Rome, Jordan and Giannina, bonus daughters; Veronica Troy, Markita Dye, Tameka Graham, son, Kenneth Graham, 7 bonus grandchildren, 5 bonus great grandchildren, brother; Johnnie Ballard, aunt; Jackie Ballard, sisters-in-law, Clara Beatty (Nathan), Marie Balloon, Roselyn Shaw (Willie), Jackie Robbins, Marilyn Dorsey, Elizabeth Galley, Debra McKoy, brothers-in-law, Kenneth Robbins, Donald Hatcher (Deborah), Steven Hatcher (Kathy), Barry Hatcher (Erica); and many other relatives and friends.
