Harold William Terry, affectionately known as "HT," was born on November 23, 1949, at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco, NY. Harold made a significant impact as an outstanding athlete at Fox Lane High School in Bedford, NY. He excelled in wrestling, track and field, and discus throwing. After graduating in 1967, he continued his education at Winston-Salem State University, majoring in Political Science. In 1969, he proudly joined the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, forging lifelong bonds of brotherhood. Upon completing his studies, Harold returned to the Mt. Kisco area, dedicating his life to social work at Hillcrest, a boys' group home in Bedford Hills, NY, and at Hawthorne Cedar Knolls in Hawthorne, NY. In 1979, he relocated to the Wilmington, NC area, where the coastal lifestyle and the culinary mastery of his beloved mother, Lila, inspired him. This led him to a distinguished career in restaurant management that spanned over thirty years. From the elegant fine dining experience at Le Chateau to the warm atmosphere of Annabelle's, Harold nurtured countless friendships and meaningful connections with his colleagues and staff. Fondly known as "Chief," he was celebrated for his extraordinary ability to unite people and create a vibrant sense of community. Throughout his leadership, he was recognized for his kindness and positivity, never speaking ill of anyone and serving as a mentor to many. Harold is predeceased by his parents, Lila Jennings Terry and Frank Terry. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Sophia "LaRae" Terry; his granddaughter, Samari; and two great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Gia. His legacy continues through his brother, Fred Terry (Evelyn), and sister-cousins, Audrey Albert and Karen Richardson. Harold's spirit is further enriched by his childhood and lifelong friend, Thomas Scala, dear friend Tammy Montgomery, and close friends, James "Woody" Fullwood, Miles Davidson, Terri Johnson, and a former employee, April Wilson Murray, who he considered a daughter. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His essence will forever resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
