Funeral Service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Mt. Olive AME Church. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Hansley Johnson, son of the late Bernice Brown and Hank Brinson was born September 5, 1949, in Wilmingt6on, North Carolina. "Dump" as he was so affectionately known, departed this earthly life on September 23, 2024. Hansley was educated in the New Hanover County School System, graduating from Williston Senior High School in the Class of 1967. Following graduation, Hansley enlisted in the United States Army. As a Veteran he served two tours in Vietnam. Following his service to his country, "Dump" gained employment at New Hanover Memorial Hospital, working in the painting engineering department, from which he retired on December 31, 2011. "Dump" was married to the former Barbara Jones who preceded him in death. They enjoyed over 25 years of marriage. He enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, watching sports and was an excellent baseball player. Hansley was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a loyal friend. "Dump" leaves to cherish very fond memories: his children: Sabrena Elaine Wallace, Ebony Amos, Michael A. Bell, Michelle R. Bell, Joseph A. Vaught, Deshera Johnson and Tanicesha Johnson; grandchildren: Nija C. Crumpler, Elijah H. Crumpler, Cyniah M. Crumpler, Michael E. Wallace, Malik Amos, Alana Ashmead, Arianna Ashmead, Nicholas M. Hunter, Nylah M. Hunter, Tanahri Johnson, Taylenn London, Taige Johnson, Trace Johnson and Ayla McNeill; great-grandchildren, Elijah Daniel Crumpler and Malani Amos; siblings, Augusta "Puddin" Brown, Allen "Champ" Brown Jr. and Micchicco "Angie" Thompson; his brothers-in-law, Darryl (Vonzella) Jones and Ricky (Denise) Jones; aunts and uncles, including Vangeline "Mrs. McGee" and Ethel "Sweet Pea"; nieces, Blanca Brown and Inia Thompson; and a host of other relatives and many friends who will dearly miss him.
