Graveside service will be 12:00 Noon on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Greenlawn Memorial Park; 1311 Shipyard Boulevard.  Visitation is from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Gwendolyn Mills Phillips, 72, of Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, at Atrium Health University Hospital in Charlotte, NC.  She was born on December 20, 1952, in Wilmington, NC, to the late Jessie and Amelia Hussey Mills.  Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elder Ronald J. Phillips; her son, Tarell Phillips; her sisters, Evelyn Mills, Joyce Carolyn Mills Blanks, Margaret Mills McLucas; her brothers, Kenneth Mills, Thomas Jefferson Mills, Ronald Charles Mills, Jessie James Mills, Jr., and John Henry Mills.  A devoted servant of God, Gwendolyn dedicated her life to ministering alongside her husband at Bibleway Church of God in Christ in Kinston, NC.  She had a heart for service and was a source of love, wisdom, and support to countless family members, friends, and members of her faith community.  As a mother, she lovingly raised seven children, but her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her own family, welcoming many into her life as her own.  She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, cherished by her children: Ronald Phillips Jr., Reverend Celeste Navarro, Tanya Mason (Charles), Shon Feazell, Kenny Phillips (Jihan), and Ronald Phillips Ill.  She was a proud and loving grandmother to Andrew Pittman, Myron Mills, Asia Phillips, Maya Bell, Jasmine Jackson, Jada Jackson, Ranicquea Chance, Amir Phillips, Alim Phillips, Hassan Phillips, Jaziiya Phillips-Carlos, Lyric Phillips, Orion Bannerman, Zariah Navarro, and India Navarro as well as a great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother, Larry Mills; Sister, Barbara Jean Sourzes; special sons, Brandon Oliver, Aaron Chambers, and Jimmie Williams; her daughter-in-law, Chanicquea Chance; goddaughter, Kathy Davis (Eric) and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.  Gwendolyn's kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith touched the lives of all who knew her.  She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those she loved.
