Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Freedom's Way Ministries, Inc.; 1952 Dawson Street.  Burial will follow in Calvary Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Gloria Jean Wright was born on March 19, 1950, in Wilmington, North Carolina. She was the youngest daughter of the late Fred Wright, Sr., and the late Lula Canty Wright of Wilmington, NC. Gloria departed this life on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at home in Wilmington, North Carolina. She attended Williston Senior High School in New Hanover County. Gloria was a gifted cook and baker, truly a jack of many trades. She was a decorator, a painter, and a devoted caregiver who lovingly cared for three to four generations of nieces and nephews. She served her family with dignity, grace, and unwavering dedication. Gloria was preceded in death by her siblings:  Fred Jr, Albert, Shirley, Lula Ann, Lester, and George. She leaves to cherish fond memories of her nieces: Samantha L. Smith and Charity M. Wright of Wilmington, NC; Becky (Stanley) Alexander, of Charlotte NC; one nephew, Fred (Adriana) Wright, Ill, of Columbia, SC; great nieces Tyler Alexander, Charlotte, NC and Kirstie Logan of Savannah, GA; great-nephews Jonathan Alexander, Houston, TX, and Christopher Benson, Columbia, SC; great- great-nephew Je'Ron D. (Trinity) Conyers of Winnabow, NC; great- great-niece Zakiyyah A. Conyers of Wilmington, NC; great-great-great niece Kali Conyers, of Winnabow, NC; special loved one considered like a son, Deacon Terry Smith of Burgaw, NC; and a host of relatives and friends.
