Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Mt. Ararat AME Church, 7061 Market Street.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Gloria English Williams completed her earthly journey on Sunday, December 24, 2023. She was born January 19, 1952, in Jackson, Mississippi from the union of the late Brooks and Inez English. She was the sixth of seven siblings. She was preceded in death by siblings: Jimmy Jackson of Chicago, IL and Barbara Anderson-Islam of Columbus, OH. As a young child, Gloria grew up in Jackson, Mississippi where she was baptized at Cades Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and received her education through the Jackson Public School System. After graduating from Murrah High School in 1971, Gloria attended Jackson State University. In 1974, Gloria met and married her soulmate, Kenneth L. Williams, Sr., affectionately known as "Pete", in Las Vegas, Nevada. From their union the couple had two wonderful children Kenneth and Jessica. Gloria and Pete then relocated and raised their children between Tennessee, Louisiana, and finally anchored in North Carolina where they remained. She had one granddaughter, whom she cherished, Gabrielle, adoringly known as Gabi. The majority of Gloria's career was spent between Hadden Hall Apartments as the Property Manager and at Easter Seals, UCP as a Rehabilitation Technician. Gloria lived a life that was family driven and full of giving as evidenced by her ability to love beyond measure. She had a huge personality that was memorable to all who encountered her. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of 49 years, Kenneth L. Williams, Sr.; son, Kenneth L. Williams Jr. of Wilmington, NC; daughter, Jessica R. Williams of Greensboro, NC; granddaughter, Gabrielle R. Campbell of Greensboro, NC; brothers, Buford English (Toni) of Columbus, OH, Charles English (Alice) of Jackson, MS, Eugene English of Jackson, MS and James English of Denver, CO; mother-in-law, Louise Williams of Wilmington, NC; sisters-in-law, Gloria Lewis of Lithonia, GA and Eleanor Jackson of Chicago, IL; a special friend, Bernice Gray Sanders of Houston, TX; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends
