In Gladys's earlier years she was a member of Myrtle Grove AME Church, in Leland, NC. She joined Summerville AME Zion Church in 1975 as her husband, the late Rev. Strossie A. She was a Deaconess, the Pastor's Aide Board President, Missionary Worker, President of the Stewardess Board, Adult and Senior choir member, all until her health begin to decline. Gladys was a truly caring and compassionate Woman of God and exemplified that in every walk of her life. Gladys was educated in the Brunswick County School System and worked at Lackey Industry for over 25 years. She continued her education by becoming a Certified Nurse's Assistant with Wellcare Health until her retirement. She continued to be a caregiver for those in need. She had a heart of gold and loved to see individuals being independent and understanding the meaning of life. Her hobbies were doing Missionary work, watching Wheel of Fortune and Lifetime TV.
