Funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Shoulders Branch Missionary Baptist Church, 4404 Holly Shelter Rd, Castle Hayne, NC 28429.  Burial will follow in the Shoulders Branch Cemetery.  Visitation is from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Gladys Grady was born to the late Nick and Carrie Mae Simpson on June 26, 1932.  She departed this earthly life on September 7, 2024. Gladys was educated in the New Hanover County Public School System.  She attended Shoulders Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Castle Hayne, North Carolina. Gladys married Charlie Grady, Sr. and later relocated to New York where she raised her four children, and many others who needed a home.  She was employed and retired from 1199 Union at Knickablocker and Saint Luke's Hospital. In addition to her parents and her husband, Gladys was preceded in death by her son, Robert Lee Grady; her daughter, Joyce Grady; brothers, Nick, Robert, Roosevelt, Willie, Bill and Edward Simpson and sister, Hazel Brown. Her family left to cherish her memory is: her son, Charlie Grady, Jr. (Heloise); daughter, Barbara Williams (Mike); sisters, Mattie Foy (Dave) and Maggie Robertson (Zeke); a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
