Gabriel Elwood Watts, age 9, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025, in the early morning hours. Born on September 22, 2015, Gabriel brought immeasurable light and love into every space he entered. He was a caring, creative soul with a heart full of joy and a spirit determined to shine. Gabriel dreamed of becoming an artist and spent countless hours drawing, making origami, and building imaginative creations from paper and LEGO bricks. He was fascinated by music — not just the melodies, but the beats and instruments that brought songs to life. Gabriel's warmth touched everyone who knew him. He was incredibly loving and thoughtful, always making sure those around him felt seen and supported. He especially adored his siblings and shared a uniquely close bond with his 8-year-old little brother — they were best friends, constant companions, and joyful playmates. Gabriel loved dance parties in the living room with all of his siblings and took pride in being the big brother who helped, comforted, and cheered everyone on. Every evening, he made sure to give hugs and kisses before bed, wrapping his family in love. He had a gentle heart and a deep empathy beyond his years. He often asked his mom, "Are you happy?" — a question that revealed just how much he cared about others' feelings. He was always eager to help, even with simple things like putting away groceries, just to be close and helpful. Gabriel also loved asking his dad how his day was after work, always hoping it had been a good one. Gabriel treasured connection. He loved talking with his cousins and doing art with them over FaceTime. He deeply loved both of his grandmothers, always excited to spend time with them and making them smile. Whether he was exploring the outdoors, watching Our Planet, or simply enjoying the moment, Gabriel carried joy in everything he did. He wanted everyone to be happy — and through his love, laughter, and light, he made that happen every day. He is deeply loved and forever remembered by his parents, Lyle and Breanna Watts; his siblings, Alexander, London, Zoey and Xavier, who will always carry him in their hearts; his beloved grandmothers, Felicia Taylor and Theresa Watts and his grandfathers, Danny Scott and Bill Hagan; his aunts Jasmine Hicks and Devon Howard; uncle, Joseph Howard Jr.; his cousins, Candace, Zipporah and Kymathee, plus many cousins and countless extended family members and friends who were blessed to know him.
A Celebration of Gabriel's Light will be scheduled for a different date.
You will forever be with us, Gabriel. We love you forever and ever.
