Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at St. Stephen AME Church. Visitation will be from 5:30 - 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Fredin Lee Police (Freddie) was born on June 13, 1941, to Walter and Frankie Police of Soperton Georgia. Walter married Louise Police of Stamford, Connecticut, all who preceded him in death. Freddie received a formal education in Soperton Public Schools and moved to Stamford, Connecticut after graduation. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served 26 years.
Freddie married the love of his life Mable Vernetta Dickey on November 9, 1962. Freddie traveled overseas in his time in the military and he and his family lived in different states including North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey, Maine, and California. Freddie and Mable have two children Gregory and Roseanda, and four grandchildren.
Freddie is a Vietnam Veteran; served as Drill Sergeant in Paris Island, South Carolina; was the base Sergeant Major of the Portsmouth Naval Base in Kittery, Maine; and last served at the Tustin Marine Base in California. There he retired at the rank of Sergeant Major in 1986. He was a lifetime member of the National Monford Point Marine Association, Chapter 25 of Camp Lejune, North Carolina. After he retired from the Marine Corp, he went on to work and retired from Southern California Edison in California while attending Riverside Community College. After retiring, he and his family moved back to Wilmington, North Carolina, and finished his career at the North Carolina State Ports Authority.
Freddie also served the church as a Deacon at St. Mark Baptist Church in Browns Mill, New Jersey and was a member of St. Stephen A.M.E. Church in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was loving and kind and always made time to help those in need.
He departed this life on December 4,2022, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. His memories are cherished by his wife Mable Police, two children Gregory Police (Cindy), Roseanda Hall (Robert); four grandchildren: Matthew Police, Jonathon Police, Kayla Rankin, and Jalyn Hall; three sisters: Patricia Baker, Laura Police, and Tina Police, all of Stamford Connecticut; one brother Charles Police of Georgia; two sisters-in-laws: Fannie Dickey Freeman and Thelma Vines Dickey McDuffie of Wilmington, North Carolina; extended family Pamela Taylor, Tadzia Taylor of Hopewell, Virginia and Trea Taylor of Jackson, Georgia; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and all those who have been impacted by his life and spirit.
