Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Calvary Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.

Fleather Thomas, Jr. son of the late, Thalia Thomas Dukes and Fleather Thomas, Sr. was born on August 22, 1946.  He departed this earthly life on August 17, 2022. Fleather was educated in the New Hanover County School System, graduating from Williston Senior High School in the Class of 1965. After graduating, Fleather joined the US Army and proudly served his country.  He was honorably discharged in 1969.   Fleather pursued a career with the Metropolitan Police Department, Fourth District until his retirement in 1991. Serving six years in the US Army and 20 years with the police department is a grand total of 26 years of Service!  Fleather, affectionally known as "Punkin" loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a people person and he loved to talk to everyone.  He enjoyed music and would belt out singing at his favorite parts of the songs and then laugh.  He enjoyed horse racing and loved spending time at the track. When he was unable to make it to the track, he would sit in his favorite spot on the couch and watch the races from there.  Fleather was a stylish man. He was known for his stylish attire/suits and always had matching shoes and a hat to complete his look.  Fleather Thomas, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Thalia Thomas Dukes and Fleather Thomas Sr. and his brothers, Glendale Thomas and Leon Thomas.  Fleather leaves to cherish his memories: his life companion of 39 years, Kathy Vinson of the home; stepmother, Lottie Thomas of Wilmington, NC; sons, Michele A. Thomas, Fleather D. Thomas, III (Trina), and Gerald D. Thomas (Samantha) all of Wilmington, NC; daughter, Katyce Jones (Pedro Jr.) of Williamsburg, VA; stepson, Michael Taylor of Washington, DC; fourteen grandchildren: Shelly Daniels (Elton), Tatiana Thomas, Sidney Thomas (Quiten), William A. Thomas, Dascious "LD" Thomas, Macy Jacobs, Gabreil Thomas, Angelina Thomas, Akayla Thomas, Jada Thomas, Joy Jones, Maddox Thomas, Maddox Collins and Marquita Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Karter Anderson and Karter Taylor; siblings, Glorious Corbett of Leland, NC, Jesse Thomas (Carlyn), Tony Thomas, Donald Thomas (Sonia), Marie Clarkson, and Nathan Smith all of Wilmington, NC, Warren Green of Wilona, MN, James Green and Steven Green both of Wilmington, NC.
