Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Faith Temple COGIC. Burial will follow in Calvary Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is on Monday 5:30-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Ernestine "Pang" Yates-Allen was born December 24, 1932, in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late Willie and Eloise Yates. She received her wings on January 31, 2023. Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband Harry Allen Sr.; her five children: Harry Jr., Janie Mae, Julia Ann, Barbara, and Ernest; granddaughter, Latonya Allen-Hines; great-great-grandson, Marcqeon Goodman; her sisters, Janie Mae, Ruby, Elizabeth, and Pearlie; and her brothers, Willie Jr., David and Gaston. Mother Allen received her education from New Hanover County Schools. She later moved to Newark, New Jersey to continue her education at Essex County Community College. She was the Inspector for the City of Newark, New Jersey. Mother Allen was a founding member of Foundation Temple under the leadership of the late Ms. Mary Jackson. Later, she returned home in Wilmington, North Carolina and once settled in, she became one of the famous candy ladies in her community and not to mention her delicious candy apples. In the year of 1985, she became a member of Faith Temple COGIC. Mother Allen attended several churches but her heart remains at Faith Temple COGIC where she was a faithful member until her passing. Mother Allen was a compassionate and loving mother who is survived by: her daughter, Frances Allen of the city; a special daughter, Shanta Brown of Newark, NJ; three children she raised, Tamikah, Shamikah and Shaleeyah; 22 grandchildren; 88 great-grands; 78 great-great-grands; 6 great-great-great-grands and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who she enjoyed spending her time with.
