On Sunday, July 12, 2026, Ernest H. Hansley, Jr., affectionately known as "Ernie," peacefully transitioned from labor to reward at the age of 57. Although his presence will be deeply missed, the love he shared and the memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Born on May 8, 1969, Ernie was the beloved son of the late Ernest H. Hansley, Sr. and the late Quetta Taylor Hansley. He was raised with the values of hard work, resilience, and love for family—qualities that defined his life and left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Ernie was a man of many talents whose expertise spanned a remarkable number of trades. Whether working as an auto mechanic, tackling home repairs, or lending a helping hand to someone in need, he approached every task with skill, determination, and pride. He was the kind of person who could fix almost anything and was always willing to share his knowledge with others. Outside of work, Ernie found joy in life's simple pleasures. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, offering him peace and a chance to enjoy the outdoors. He was also a devoted movie enthusiast who could effortlessly quote lines from many of his favorite films, often bringing laughter and smiles to family gatherings. His quick wit, warm heart, and unforgettable sense of humor made him a joy to be around. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest H. Hansley, Sr. and Quetta Taylor Hansley; his sister, Hazel M. Hansley Balloon; and his maternal grandparents, Don Taylor, Sr. and Melissa Taylor. Above all else, Ernie treasured his family. He was a loving and devoted father whose greatest pride was his children. He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Angel Hansley Daniels (Demetrius), and his son, Ernest H. Hansley, III (Shadee’). He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Phyllis Meschelle Hansley Clark (Tony), Bessie Hansley Baptiste and Angela Dionne Hansley, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort knowing that Ernie's legacy will continue through the lives he touched. His strength, generosity, laughter, and unconditional love will never be forgotten. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7 Forever in our hearts, always in our memories.
