Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Warner Temple AME Zion Church.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation is from 6-8:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.

ERIN NICOLE MATTHEWS departed this life peacefully at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center on August 29, 2024.  Erin was born January 2, 1971, to the late William Henry and Mary Matthews.  She received her formal education in the New Hanover County Public School System.  She loved the Lord and accepted Christ as her personal savior and joined Shoulders Branch Missionary Baptist Church.  Erin worked at Taco Bell for over 18 years, until her health began to decline.  Erin had a beautiful voice and loved singing, which she did every chance she got.  Her favorite song was "Going Up Yonder", and she could be heard singing it at any time day or night, even as a young child.  She had a compassionate nature and a giving spirit, and her beautiful smile brought warmth and joy to everyone she encountered.  Erin was a devoted mother and grandmother, and her grandchildren were the love of her life.  Her passing will be deeply mourned by everyone who knew and loved her.  Erin leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Taleisha Matthews, Terica Matthews, and Ta'Nasia Matthews; 6 grandchildren, Jonathan McLaurin, Desiyah Hudley, Desmond Hudley, Faith Owens, Arian Holliday, Anthony Owens, Jr.; 1 brother, Michael Todd (Tracy); 1 nephew, Terrance M. Todd; 3 Aunts, Carolyn Matthews Smith, Rev. Dr. Patricia S. McAllister, Cathie Southerland, and Susie Boney; special friend, Delores Jackson; godson, Jamel Paige (Jamma); many special cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
