On Saturday, September 6, 2025, Eric Hobbs entered into eternal rest. He was born on September 3, 1974, to the late Rebia Hobbs and Carol Hobbs. His life was a gift to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rebia Hobbs; his nephew, Steven Grady; and his uncle, Gerald Davis. Eric was educated in New Hanover County Schools and graduated from New Hanover High School with the Class of 1993. School was a place where he made lasting friendships and created memories that stayed with him throughout his life. Eric had a style and spirit all his own. He loved clothes — and not just loved, but he LOVED clothes. Matching from head to toe was his trademark, and he was always fresh, rarely seen in the same outfit twice. His collection of fitted hats and sneakers was a signature part of his look, adding to the fresh style people will always remember him for. Shopping was one of his greatest joys, and he embraced it fully. Eric had a laugh that was contagious and a fun-loving personality that made time spent with him unforgettable. He was humble, kind, and never met a stranger. He had his own way of keeping life light, always adding a little extra joy to his days. One of his favorite sayings was, "No suh," words that still bring smiles to those who remember him. Eric's life was built on love for family. He is remembered by his daughter, D'On McFadden of Charlotte, NC, and his granddaughter, Berkeley McFadden. He is also remembered by his father, Carol Hobbs of Castle Hayne, NC; his sisters, Shanta Hobbs and Crystal Hobbs, both of Castle Hayne, NC; his niece, Zoey Hobbs; his nephews, Zhane Whitted, Shan Hobbs, and Kenyen Nixon; and his great-niece, Sony Hobbs, and great-nephew, Noah Hobbs. He is further survived by his aunts, Serenda Parker of Long Creek, NC; Jessie Mae Williams of Greensboro, NC; and Shirley Mae Jones of Curry, NC; and his uncles, Larry Lawrence of Wilmington, NC, and Glendale Hobbs of Wilmington, NC. He is also survived by his great-aunts, Audrey Collins (John) of St. Mary's, GA; Vivian Smith of Wilmington, NC; Gwendolyn Stringfield of Wilmington, NC; Gennie Davis of Castle Hayne, NC; and Arlene Grady of Castle Hayne? NC; and his great-uncles, Frederick Davis (Patricia) of Castle Hayne, NC, and Thomas Davis (Mary) of Yakima, WA; special family, Lewis Whitted. Eric will be deeply missed by a host of cousins, extended family, and dear friends. His family takes comfort in remembering his laughter, his style, and the love he shared so freely.
