Obituary

Funeral service will be 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at John H. Shaw's Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service on Saturday.

In the early morning hours of June 6, 2026, Emir Jaheen Moore was called home to rest. Emir was born on September 30, 2002, in Rockingham, North Carolina. Emir attended New Hanover County Public Schools, where he played football throughout high school as a defensive tackle. He was a hardworking and dedicated employee of both Home Depot and Harris Teeter. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing video games and spending quality time with his family and friends. Emir was known for his infectious smile, charming personality, and loving spirit. He had a heart of gold and a smile that could light up any room. Emir had many plans for his future and a bright path ahead of him. He was kind and gentle, the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back if he thought it would help someone in need. His love for life was unmatched, and he carried a smile with him wherever he went. Emir was the most loving son a mother could ask for, a thoughtful and supportive sibling, and a loyal friend to many. His positivity, compassion, and generous spirit touched countless lives and will be remembered for years to come. Although his presence will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in each of us—in the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him. Emir was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ronald Davis Sr., Katrina Riles, and W.C. "Jack" Riles; and his paternal grandfather, Earl Johnson. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his parents, Kayah and Shaun Rucker of the home, and Ebay Moore of New York; eight siblings: Dakeyah Holloway of Dallas, Texas, David Holloway Jr. and Dimon King of Wilmington, North Carolina, Tysha Moore, Tyvon Moore, Tyson Moore, and Tysonia Lowe, all of Bennettsville, South Carolina, and Ebasion Moore of York, South Carolina. He also leaves behind his grandmother, Linda Brown of Hamlet, North Carolina; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who loved him; and his beloved niece, Nai'ari Sanaii Azia King, with whom he shared a very special bond. Though Emir's earthly journey ended far too soon, the love, laughter, and memories he shared will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
