Funeral Service will be held Saturday, Dec 2, 2023 at 2:00 p m at the Willie L. Shaw Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Dec 1, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Our beautiful mother Elizabeth (Bert) Oliver peacefully passed away on November 23, 2023, at the age of 77 years old. She was born on March 12, 1946, in Summerton, SC to Damon Oliver and Martha Johnson Oliver (Both Deceased). She was the eldest of eleven siblings. Six of whom have preceded her in death. She attended the school system in Summerton, SC. She joined Johnson Baptist Church at an early age in Wilmington, NC. She was the mother of the church for Bible Way Apostolic Church in Currie, NC. She later joined St. Joy Holiness Church in Wilmington, NC where she continued to serve, praise God through worship and songs until her passing. Mom was a professional cook by trade for many years at Mychelle's Restaurant in Wilmington, NC. She was a well-loved member of the community especially throughout her volunteering and outreach efforts of helping others. Mom loved and adored her family and friends. She never encountered a stranger. Mom always made sure everyone was greeted with smiles and encouraging words of positivity. Mom enjoyed attending Church, Fishing, Chickens, Sunflowers, and the Color Blue. She was very kindhearted and outgoing. We will truly miss our amazing mother. She is survived by her three children: Diane (Greta) Oliver Wilmington, NC, David (Earl) Gore (Kimderlyn) Greenville, NC and Regince (Gina) Gore (Terry) Wilmington, North Carolina. Seven Grandchildren: Derrick Oliver, Antione Oliver, Shaquanta Smythe, Tanekqua Holliday, Quamonte Holliday, Jaysean Daniels, and Jairus Gore. Twenty-Two Great Grand Children, Two sisters: Frances Lane (Jerry) Wilmington, NC, and Margie Oliver Wilmington, NC. Two Brothers: Devone Oliver (Christine) Riverdale, GA, and David (Puckwood) Oliver Durham, NC. Best friends; Maxine Griffin, Martha Johnson (Deceased), Susie Briggs, Jerry Lane, Louise Brown, Tresha (Queen) Hunt, Cynthia Wells, and her very special friend Elwood Waddell. Five Stepchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Three Nurses: Amy Fussell, Harriet Hardison, Jodie, Novant Hospital Staff, and The Laurels of Pender County. Our family truly appreciate the caring empathy shown to our mother throughout her illness.
