Today, we do not grieve without hope; we do not gather without the joy of knowing Jesus and His sacrifice for all of us; and we rejoice at the gift He gave to all of us, Elenor Dixon Brown a true woman of God. Born September 15, 1945, in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late Joe Dixon Sr. and the late Pauline Dixon, Elenor was a force of strength, dignity, decency and grace! After graduating Williston High School in 1963, she began her professional career at Riegelwood Mill, a division of International Paper. Her professionalism, tenacity and strong work ethic allowed her to be promoted from the processing areas to an administrative position. Always one to fulfill her obligations and run a full race, she retired from the Riegelwood Mill in 1996. Never resting on her laurels and always working towards a goal, she began working for Pender County Schools. She started at the School Board as an administrative assistant transferring to Topsail Middle School as their bookkeeper. Running another full race, she retired from Pender County Schools in 2010. Always a blessing and a benefit to those needing her, she returned often to the school system filling in when a need arose. Never one to shy away from hard work was Elenor. On August 30, 1980, she married her lifelong love, Claudius Brown. God blessed them with 43 years of love, commitment and dedication to Him and to one another. Shortly after marrying her lifelong love, she joined Christian Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She served there continuously and faithfully until her health would no longer allow it. As in all things she served masterfully having been church administrator, president of the missionaries, an usher board member, a choir member and a youth worker! WOW...and what a wonderful soprano voice she had. When she sang of the gloriousness of God, you felt her love for Him. Being a true renaissance woman, Elenor bowled once belonging to a bowling league. She loved to travel. She loved to take care of family and friends. She epitomized the true meaning of love, often sharing her wisdom, her strong convictions, her sense of correctness and decency with those privileged to encounter her! She shared her resources to ensure that you were comfortable and that you were well cared for. She opened her home and heart to those in need NEVER limiting her love. One of her greatest gifts from God was her children. Motherhood allowed for her completeness of self and she relished in her children. She shared their triumphs and challenges; she prayed continuously for their wellbeing; and she supported them always! In addition to her parents, Elenor was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Dixon Jr. and Roland Dixon Sr. Having run a full and complete race, she departed this earthly life into God's loving arms on Tuesday, April 17, 2024, at the Lower Cape Fear Life Center. Loving her into eternity and ensuring that her legacy will live on are: her lifelong love, Claudius Brown, of the family home; her daughter, Ashley N. Brown, High Point, NC; her sons, Kendrick "Kendo" R. Brown, Hampstead, NC and Claudis Robinson (Antoinette), Wilmington, NC; her grandson; Claudis (Maria) Robinson, New York, NY; her great-grandchildren, Elina Robinson and Desja Robinson; her sisters, Jeanette Dixon, Wilmington, NC and Dorothy Goodson (Anthony), Raleigh, NC; her brother, James Dixon (Beverly), Knightdale, NC; sisters-in-love, Wanda Moore (Terry Drewery), Knightdale, NC and Alice Howard, Charlotte, NC.
