Born on December 23, 1954, in the Brown's Ferry Community of Georgetown, South Carolina, Edith Coley Miller was the beloved child of Willie and Rachel Ann Vereen Coley. She attended Brown's Elementary School, a 1972 graduate of Choppee High School and Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, North Carolina where she studied phlebotomy. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church while living in Georgetown. Edie was a member of The Village Worship Center in Leland, North Carolina. She loved her church family. They were truly her brothers and sisters. Regardless of the circumstances, you would always hear her say "Lord, I thank You". Edith was resilient, generous, compassionate, and most of all a godly woman who had a positive outlook on life and enjoyed sharing the Word. She dedicated her career to the medical profession, making a lasting impact through empathy and genuine love for others. Edie retired from Wilmington Health after many dedicated years to the health care community. After retiring she decided to start her own business "Sew Blessed". Her passion was fulfilled in visiting the nursing homes, she and her husband would also prepare and deliver meals to members of their church community which brought joy to them and others. Edith married Ralph Miller, Sr., on April 16, 1976, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter and shared dreams. She took great pride in her family. Edith was a source of love, support, and inspiration to everyone who knew her. In her free time, Edith enjoyed reading (the Bible especially), gardening and sewing. She had a gift for creating fashion from headgear to footwear. Her creativity, warmth, wisdom, and laughter will be missed but always remembered. Edith is survived by her loving husband, Ralph Miller, Sr., her children: Fredricka Brinkley of Castle Hayne, NC, Dontea Germar Miller (Christine) of Manhattan, KS Ralph Miller, Jr. (Tamika) of Wilmington, NC, Rachel Candice Dillard (Kevin) of Castle Hayne; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, four siblings: Augustus Vereen of Columbia, SC, Vivian Coley Johnson of Georgetown, SC, Larry James Coley (Alvina) of Georgetown, SC, Anthony Coley (Bertha) of West Columbia, SC, Comerletha Vereen of Columbia, SC. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Alfonso Coley. Though Edith is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. She leaves behind a world made brighter by her presence, and a legacy that will endure.
