Funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at St. Johns AME Church, Wrightsboro. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
Mother Earline Brooks McClain was affectionately known as "Aunt Earline", "Cousin Earline", "Miz Earline," and "Grandma Earline" was born on January 1, 1932, in Pender County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Alfonso Brooks and Ella Moore. She was also educated in the public school system in Pender County. Mother Earline was united in holy matrimony to the late Lamar Angustus McClain, on August 26, 1951. She was also preceded in death by her five brothers; Thomas Brooks of Wilmington, NC, Leroy James of Hempstead, NC, Neil James, Horace James, and Alexander James, all of Wilmington, NC. Mother Earline began her walk with the Lord at an early age and became a member of St John AME, where she served faithfully in a variety of capacities, such as the Choir, Usher Board, Class Leader, Missionary Society and Trustee. One of her favorite past-times, was gardening, collecting recipes, and oh, how she loved to cook…she was the best! She was a giver of real love, and she received so much in return. Mother lived a full life, and she did it her way…. devoting herself to her family and her God! Her favorite saying was, "I am not moving to Charlotte." Mother Earline leaves to cherish her fond loving memories, her sons; Bishop Charles R. "Jimbo" Walters (Patricia) Sr., of Charlotte, NC, and Pastor Leroy Dukes (Roline) of Wilmington, NC; two sisters. Overseer Ann Elizabeth Snead of Charlotte, NC, and Gwendolyn Lettley of Trenton, NJ; two sisters-in-law, Josephine James, and Carolyn James. Also, surviving are her grandchildren, Cliff, Nita, Chucky, Crystal, Tasha; great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
