Earl Lydell Henry "Earl the Pearl", 64, transitioned from this life into eternity on Monday, September 5, 2022, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Earl, the oldest of three siblings, was born July 23, 1958, in Wilmington, NC to the late Marjorie Elnora Henry. He was a graduate of John T. Hoggard High School and Cape Fear Technical Community College.  Earl will be remembered for his outgoing personality, caring spirit, sense of humor, and colorful "BIG Drip" style. He loved his family and was a loyal and trusted friend.  To many, he was known as "Uncle Earl"; to some, he was known as "Dad"; to others, he was a "Brother". Earl was a creative who loved to draw, paint, design unique outfits, style & cut hair, and was an overall fashion connoisseur.   When thinking of Earl, the word "Overcomer" comes to mind. He battled with various challenges in his life, but through the grace of God, was able to turn his life around. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and united with Union Missionary Baptist Church. Earl loved his church and faithfully served on the Usher's Ministry. He volunteered at the local Food Bank and Narcotics Anonymous/Alcoholics Anonymous (NA/AA), assisted the elderly and disabled members of his community, and served as President of the Solomon Towers Resident Association.   Earl leaves to cherish his memory: his sister, Deborah Bethea (Samuel Sr.) of Greensboro, NC; his brother, Jeffrey Brown (Stephanie) of Wilmington, NC; niece, Lynnia Bethea (Trennis) of Chester, VA; nephew, Samuel Bethea Jr. (Shari) of Concord, NC; great-nephew, Devin Bethea of Richmond, VA; two uncles, Richard Henry (Angela) and Anthony Henry of Wilmington, NC; aunt, Emily Henry of Baltimore, MD; dear friends, Henrietta McKoy and Ramona Ragin; special daughter, Ebony McKoy; a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends.
