Douglas Leroy Johnson, son of the late James and Sarah (Sadie) Johnson, was born on December 31, 1957, in the Rock Hill Community of Castle Hayne, North Carolina. Our Heavenly Father called him home on August 27, 2025. Douglas, affectionately known to his family and friends as "Doug" or "DJ", was educated in the New Hanover County School System. He attended St. James AME Church in Castle Hayne, North Carolina earlier in life and later joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Wilmington, North Carolina. Doug relocated to New York where he gained skills working in construction with Rick's Construction Company. Following his return to Wilmington, North Carolina, Doug gained employment with Melvin Stucco as a foreman. Working with Melvin's Stucco, Doug mastered the skill of stucco and later started his own business, Johnson's Plaster and Stucco, which was a thriving business until his health began to fail and his ultimate passing. He took pride in his work and never said no to helping his family and friends. He left his signature work in many homes of family and friends in Wilmington, North Carolina and the surrounding area. Doug married the love of his life, Jacqueline Yolanda Robinson, on April 10, 2009. They shared over 30 years of love and devotion. He spent a lot of time with his family and friends who he loved, and they loved him. He made sure his household, and his cars were "up to par." He loved and cherished his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and all who will deeply miss him and his memorable soul. Doug was a quiet and humble person who loved life. He will be greatly missed, and his love and humbleness will remain in our hearts. In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene Johnson and Bernard Johnson; and his sisters, Ella Johnson Melvin, Betty Johnson Hampton, Candice Johnson, and Retha Johnson Nixon. Doug leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife, Jacqueline Johnson of the home; his daughters, Akeisha Parker, Alexandria Robinson, Kisha Robinson, Michelle Robinson, Denise Robinson and Shecory Ballard (Bilah); his sons, Gregory Antwain Parker, Deletrick Yates and Robert Thames; loving grandchildren; loving great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Wanda Bain, Francine Pierce (Robert), Elizabeth "Winnie" Robinson and Carolyn Waddell-Mack; brother-in-law, William Robinson; a special aunt, Arlene McNeil; special nieces, Erica Robinson, Shamaine Mack and Connie Simmons; special cousin, Caletha Allen; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous close friends and confidants including Chad and Pete Bloodworth.
