Doris Elizabeth Davis-Nixon was born on January 7, 1945, in Leland, North Carolina to the late Alfred Davis and Hazel Mapson Davis. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Doris was educated in the New Hanover County School System and attended Williston Senior High School. Sis. Doris Nixon was a faithful and devoted church member and Trustee of Enoch Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Sis. Doris wore many hats at her church from planning services, Pastor's Aide Committee and serving in the kitchen on the Hospitality Committee. Her devotion to God and the ministry was seen and felt by all who encounter her. Doris enjoyed her senior group "Circle of Friends" and their weekly activities. She enjoyed spending time with her family playing Bid-wiz, Spades and Pokeno. If Doris started laughing while playing spades… she was cheating you! She also enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family. She was known for frying fish on Fridays and her famous Hawaiian Meatballs. Her love has been captured and embraced and her legacy will live on. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted and caring husband, Robert L. Nixon Sr. and one sister, Vivian Davis. Her memories will be cherished by her: two loving sons, Robert L. Nixon Jr. and Frederich V. Nixon; two beautiful daughters-in-love, Pamela Waddell-Nixon and Arielle Utley-Nixon; four grandchildren: Marcus (Sharain), Ebony (Venice), Dandrell and Frederich; one great-granddaughter, Leilani Nova; six sisters, Shelia James, Sandra Lee Davis, Frances Alston (husband, Steve), Dana Hill, Danita Hill, and Greta Hill; one aunt, Nannie Mapson; four sisters-in-law, Queen Esther Ransom, Patricia Nixon, Barbara Nixon and Nazalee Nixon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends…
