Dolores Catherine Richardson Alston, loving wife, beloved mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, and Servant of the Most High God, peacefully transitioned from this life surrounded by her family at her home, on July 13, 2025. Born in Staten Island, NY on June 13, 1940, to the late Oswald and Helen Richardson, she united in holy matrimony with Horace A. Alston, Jr., on September 13, 1962. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Alexander C. Richardson, Norma R. Weaver, Elizabeth A. Richardson, Theodore Richardson, Rose Marie "Pinky" Richardson, and one child who gained his wings at birth and two grandsons, Michael Kelly and Jeremiah Johnson. In addition to her husband, Dolores is survived by two siblings: her sister, Ada Hollomon- AKA "Winnie" and her brother, Winston (Connie) Richardson AKA "Rock". Dolores leaves to cherish her memory, her 9 children: Horace A. Alston, Ill, Lisa A. Beverly, Wade A. Alston, Wanda A, Winston, Dorothy Mae Rojas (Peter), Walter Alston, Matthew P. Alston, Brian S. Alston, Mary A. Alston; 29 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends. Dolores began her walk with Christ at a young age. After traveling with her husband during his military career, they settled in Wilmington, NC where her spiritual journey led her to Faith Temple Church of God in Christ. She devoted her walk with Christ to church activities to include the Mother's Board, Hospitality Department, and Women's Committee. Her involvement with the church activities helped form a special bond between her and Sister Patricia Lofton. In addition to her service to her church, Dolores found a vocation in caregiving in her community. She was also employed as a Nurse at Fannie Norwood Nursing Home; as well as providing Private In-Home Nursing care. Her giving and loving spirit blessed many with love and laughter, as she walked in the things she loved to do the most, "Feed You"! Her contributions to the church, the community, her neighborhood and others were both numerous and heartfelt. In her neighborhood, Westchester, you could find "Ms. Dee" sitting on the porch on any given day. Her porch became a central spot for old and young to stop by for a chat, advice or just to say hello. The conversations she had were honest, thought-provoking and often unexpected. They planted seeds that she as blessed to watch grow over the last 50 years. In Dolores' final thoughts, she shared her pride and love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. — Matthew 6:34
