Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at the Willie L. Shaw Jr. Memorial Chapel. Visitation is from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.

Demetrius Powell was born on August 6, 1974, to Karen Powell and Larry "Pop" Grady in Wilmington, NC.  He departed this life on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.  He is preceded in death by his mother Karen Powell.  He relocated to Atlanta, Ga with his sisters.  There he started his own cooking business.  He loved sports, his favorite college team was UNC Tar Heels.  His favorite NFL team was the Colts, and his favorite basketball team was the Spurs.  He loved playing "Madden".  Demetrius was a great basketball and football player.  He won Most Valuable Player "MVP" of the Turkey Bowl in the 90s.  Demetrius loved this family, his children, his friends, and was a blessing to many people.  He leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters: Demetria, and Nykkia.  His son, Quinton.  His siblings; Brandi, Rafeeka, Corey, Nicki, Toya, Sharea, and Keem.  Grandchildren; Za'Lei, Za'Liah, Aasir and Luna.  His nieces and nephews; Tramahd, Carmello, Cameron, Dashiya, Camora, Caren, Camille, Tyron, Jabarie and Deishon.  His special friends; Damond Johnson, Aaron Stokes, Basey, Boo Green, Fresh and many others.
