A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at John H. Shaw's Funeral Home.

Delores Canty, affectionately known as "Sweetie," was born January 15, 1953, in Salters, South Carolina, to the Late Robert Canty, Sr, and Virginia Canty.  She was the fifth born of thirteen children. Delores departed from her earthly life Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at her residence in Wilmington, North Carolina. Delores joined St. John 4-B at an early age. Delores received her education at Williamsburg County Training School. After graduation, she relocated to Colorado Springs where she continued her education in nursing. After pursuing her nursing degree, Delores continued to work as a nurse in Atlanta, Georgia for several years. She later returned to her hometown Salters, South Carolina.  Delores loved spending time with family and friends cooking, grilling, fishing, dancing and entertaining. Delores also enjoyed singing. She was blessed with the opportunity to sing with Joe Tex, as a backup singer in her younger days.  "How bout that, Kid!"  Delores was preceded in death by her mother and father Robert Sr. and Virginia Canty.  Her daughter, Tiffany Canty, her sisters, Rebecca Thompson and Jennie Dukes, her brothers, Boykin, Robert Jr., Floyd and Jonathan Canty.  She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Anthony Canty of Wilmington, North Carolina and Christopher White, Ill of Kingstree, South Carolina along with six grandchildren, one brother Moses Canty (Brenda) of Wilmington, North Carolina, four sisters, Hattie Canty of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Catherine Strong (Dennis) of Kingstree, South Carolina, Gwendolyn Delegall (Dennis) of Brooklyn, New York and Wanda Canty of Kingstree, South Carolina and Bernadette Cooper of Statesboro, Georgia, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
