Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Union Missionary Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Calvary Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation is from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Debra Ann Rush was born February 15, 1962, to the late Everlena Mitchell and the late Leroy Beatty in Wilmington.  She departed her earthly life on April 11, 2024, at the Lifecare Hospice Center in Wilmington NC, after a battle with a short illness.  She was proceeded in death by two children, Latrika, and Anthony Rush, one brother, John Rush Jr, and her nephew Tory Miller.  Debbie, what we affectionately called her, was educated in the New Hanover County school system.  She graduated from John T. Hoggard in 1980.  Debbie had one job throughout her life's journey, employed at Wilmington Health Care Facility until she became ill.  She genuinely loved her job and coworkers.  Debbie was a member of Crown of Rejoicing Ministry/Union Baptist.  She had an untiring love for God and her Church Family.  She had a great passion for singing the Gospel.  She also took great pride in decorating her home. She was always well dressed and would always match her outfits from head to toe.  She loved to laugh and have family fun.  She always loved her family and friends unconditionally.  She leaves to cherish her Legacy and Memory, her children, one son, Brenden (Latina) Rush, two daughters Shanetria Rush and Lynarda Peters.  A lifetime partner Leonard Peters Jr. of the home, two stepchildren Evelyn Peters and Leonard Peters Ill. Two grandchildren, Khari and Ameenah Rush, five step grandchildren:  Cristian, Kiara, Kynzie, August and Aviyannah.  Two sisters, Barbara Greene, and Sandra Brown, one brother, Bernard Rush and one-half brother, Tony Beatty.  Two adopted sisters, Twanna Terry, and Linda Miller.  Special nieces Deshanda Holmes, Diresha (Tony) McMillian, Toi (Mark) Scott, Ronesha Greene, Jonquaya Rush and Dykira and Dymia Curry and adopted niece Shanna (Byron) Gayle.  Special nephews Jamard (Jessica) Bowen, Dyron Rush, and Kavon Rush.  Sister-in-law, Tina (Lonnie) Bell, Melva Merrell, Tatanesh Merrell, Renee Spaulding.  Two brothers-in-laws, Anthony Nixon, and Preston (Vanessa) Merrel. Neighborhood friends Deborah Nixon and Ronnie (Melissa) Barnhill and Lashell Johnson.  Devoted Best friend throughout her life's journey Nadine Crocker.  Special cousins Karen (Michael) Morrison, Reggie (Stephine) McIntyre and Yzosne Raily.  A host of many great nieces and nephews and many more Family and Friends.  A special thanks to the Novant Health Hospital and Life Care Hospice Center.  Chinita Burnette and Mr. & Mrs. John Howard and Family.  Special thanks also go to a devoted Daughter in Law Latina Rush and lifetime friend Nadine Crocker.
