Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Davis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church; 335 Main Street, Navassa.  Burial will follow in the Mears Cemetery.  Visitation is on Thursday, from 5-7:00 P.M. at Davis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. DaWayne Lomart Weston, affectionately known as "Cookie Man - West" was the son of Gene and Beverly Bryant.  He was born on August 8, 1968, in Wilmington, North Carolina, and departed this life on January 28, 2024, at 3:33 pm.  DaWayne was educated in the public schools of Brunswick County, graduating from North Brunswick High School in 1986.  After graduation, he was employed with the New York Times — Star News and Lackey.  DaWayne enjoyed playing baseball and football.  He was an avid Cowboys fan.  In addition to his father and stepmother, Ronald, and Barbara Kinston, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed and Mildred Weston, Johnny and Mary Bryant, Ernest, and Margie Kinston; and his god-sister, Danielle Joseph.  He leaves to cherish precious memories, his parents, Gene  and Beverly Bryant, sisters, Anngel Bryant-Pearson (Jeff), and Alicia Chambers Williams (Michael), brother, Ronald  Kinston (Fatimah), two special nephews, Raheem and La'Quan Pearson, aunts, Teresa Cooper, Mary Balloon,  Edna Pollard, Cynthia Boles, Mary Jackson, Wanda Hollis  (Ivey), Lossie Mae Bryant and Sylvia Kinston, uncles, Sherman Waddell, Joe Weston, Arthur Weston, and Bruce  Kinston, grand aunts, Beatrice Kinston, Ruth Kinston, Lillie Ann White, and Armour Douthit, grand uncle, Alphonza Willis, and an abundance of cousins that were like sisters and brothers, along with three special friends, Antonio Hooper, Edgar Smith and Anthony "Pop" Canty, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
