Obituary

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. on Friday, March 11, 2022, at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.  Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.

On Thursday, March 3, 2022, God in His infinite wisdom, and love called David J. Brown, "Chuck" home to eternal rest. He was born May I, 1948, to the late Evelyn Lemon Brown and Moultrie Brown, Sr. In Wilmington, NC. David was raised and educated in New Hanover County, graduating with the Williston Industrial School class of 1967.  David was affectionately known by most as Chuck. He dedicated his life to the Lord at an early age, he was a dedicated member of the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church (MCMBC) where he was raised and eventually returned after being a member of the Soul Saving Station for some time. David was a Deacon for twenty-two years; serving faithfully at MCMBC also as the chairman of the Deacon board, he also assisted in the Men's Day and Beyond the Wall events. He was always willing and available to be of assistance. During David's years at Soul Saving, he was a loyal and dedicated Trustee, Usher, and President of the Men's Department.  David was also active in his community where he enjoyed serving and helping others. He was passionate about witnessing and telling others of the goodness of the Lord and their need to accept Jesus the Christ as their Lord and Savior. He was an active participatory along with many other devoted friends in the bread, nursing home, prison, and street ministries. David shared his testimonies with his doctors, nurses, other staff, and patients; he praised and sang until transitioning.  David work history included, Wertheimer Bag Company, the Timie Corporation, and the Country Club; he later joined the Terex Corporation where he worked until retiring. He then enjoyed his time as a driver with the Wilmington Transit Authority (WAVE) where he had the opportunity to assist and share his love for others along with his testimonies until his health declined.  David loved and enjoyed his family, church family and friends and was always full of laughter. He enjoyed traveling, entertaining and sports, he was a diehard Steeler fan. Family gatherings were an absolute delight to him.in addition to his parents, David was proceeded in death by his two sons, Steven Brown, and David Moore, three brothers, Moultrie, Luther, and Eugene Brown. He leaves to cherish his many fond memories and continue his legacy, his lovingly devoted wife, Willie Mae Brown of the home; two sons, David Brown, Jr (Erica) of Boiling Springs, SC and Kevin Nixon (Tina) of Wilmington, NC., one daughter, Helen Daniels of Castle Hayne, NC, twelve grandchildren, Jannelle and Layla Brown, Travis and Takyra Nixon, Tirik and Te'a Johnson, Gabriel and Joshua Daniels, and Diamonte, Monte', Isiah and Jeremiah Moore; three sisters Mary Brown, of Wilmington, NC, Rachael Brown, of Charlotte, NC, Frances Garvin, (Wheeler) of Winnabow, NC; two brothers, Louis Brown, (Mary) of  Wilmington, NC and George Brown, (Patricia) of Charlotte, NC; one sister-in-law, Helen Banks (Stanley), a brother in law, Arthur Lee Moore (Meka); special friends Cleo Brown (Gwen), William Conyers (Debra) and a very special friend who proceeded him in death Larry Green (Gloria); two god children, Jeremiah Nixon and Ebony Pressley, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.
