Funeral service will be 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the Willie L. Shaw Jr. Memorial Chapel.  Visitation will be prior to the service.

Darrell Lee Hankins, son of the late Horace and Maxine Hankins was born on October 6, 1960, in Wilmington, North Carolina.  Darrell, also known as "Bo" to family and friends died Tuesday night, August 9, 2022, at Cape Fear Memorial Hospital.  Darrell was a native of Wilmington, North Carolina. He was educated in the New Hanover County School System and graduated from John T. Hoggard High School. "Bo" was a very ambitious and hard worker.  He never missed a day of work. Darrell was loved and respected by his coworkers. He worked for Holsum Bakery where he was awarded employee of the year, for New Hanover County as a boiler supervisor and at Victaulic Leland Facility.  "Bo" loved sport leagues like the NFL and NBA.  He loved the Carolina Panthers, enjoyed music, mystery shows and simply spending time with his loved ones.  He is survived by his beloved daughter, Danielle Gause; two brothers, Robert Hankins and John Hankins; three sisters, Angela Hankins Brown, Latitia Gause and Davida DeBose; a very close cousin, Rev. Owen Mitchell; a great-nephew; many nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends including a very special friend, Aquila Jones.
