Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Shaw Funeral Home.  Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. Our beloved Danita Pertelle Thompson "Soisette" was born on May 17, 1959, to the late Deon Pertelle Stokes.  She departed this life on January 28, 2024.  She was a kind, compassionate, loving woman whose smile and laughter would light up a room.  She attended John T. Hoggard High School in Wilmington, North Carolina and furthered her education at Central University in Durham, North Carolina.  Soisette worked at Sprint for numerous years earning awards, and many trips which she enjoyed with her mother and sister.  Before God called her home, she was a hospitality host at Carolina East Health System.  She loved to help others and welcomed all who came into her presence.  In addition to her mother, Danita was preceded in death by her sister, Melanie P. Stokes; niece, Kayellen Newton and nephew, Corddel Stokes.  She leaves to cherish her love and memories; her husband, Walter Ray Thompson; stepchildren, Luther, Ramesh, and Davetta Pickett; step-grandchildren; brother, Rufus Stokes; sister, Katrina Newton (Terry); nieces, Brandy Pertelle, Atria Clark (Donta) and Krystal Stokes; nephews, TJ Newton and Kaleb Newton; great-nephews, Krystian Stokes and Braylen Pertelle; her in-laws, Robie Thompson, Phoebe Sharpless, Tanya Sharpless, Emma Brown, Latoya James, Resheme Robinson, Demetrius Sharpless, Ricky Thompson, Dwayne Thompson, Ceaser Brown, Bobby Holmes (Rhonda), Jermaine James, and Kedarryl Sharpless; many special cousins, other relatives and friends.
