On December 10, 1954, Cynthia "Settea" Vaught was born to Lawrence and Odessa Vaught in Wilmington, North Carolina.  With profound sadness we report her unexpected passing on October 1, 2024, due to natural causes. She is remembered with affection by her daughter, Dominique Covington, her sole heir; her grandson, Jailyn McKay; her sister, Beverly S. Vaught, with whom she shared a particularly close bond; her baby brother, James Vaught; nephews, Kendall Vaught and Llewellyn "Geebee" Vaught; nieces, Twana Vaught, Shayla McBride and Shavannah Bush; great nephew, Denim Vaught; great niece, Jasmine Vaught; other relatives and friends. Cynthia, known as "Settea", fostered deep connections with all who entered her life, emphasizing the value of reliability and diligent effort in accomplishing desires.  Graduating from Hoggard High School in 1974, she subsequently joined Federal Paper, where her more than 20-year career was marked by the formation of lasting bonds with colleagues who remained close contacts after her departure. She was adventurous, taking risk and trying new things; including a career change to UNCW-W, where she worked alongside her nephew Kendall Vaught until retiring with many cherished work friendships.  At her kitchen table she'd sip Sundrop while Taco and GG lounged nearby.  Her passion for tending to plants was matched only by the depth of her spirituality, which included a steadfast belief in life after death.  Cynthia remained at Peak Resources Nursing Rehab part-time until the end, making friends everywhere she went.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
