Clifton Grainger,
Jr.
September 9, 1947 – February 5, 2025
Clifton's funeral service will be held in Germany on February 25, 2025.
Clifton Grainger, Jr. went home to be with his Heavenly Father on February 5, 2025. He was born on September 9,1947 in Wilmington, NC to Thelma B. Grainger and the late Clifton Grainger, Sr. His baby brother Terry Lee Grainger preceded him in death. He was educated in the New Hanover County School System. Clifton joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany. After his discharge Clifton made Stugart, Germany his home. There he learned and spoke Fluent German. He married Elizabeth and from that union, they had two sons, Clifton Donald and Michael "Mike". Although he lived in Germany, he never missed a day of celebration for his mother. He never missed a birthday, Mother's Day, or Anniversary and he sent many "Just Because Gifts". He lived in Germany for over 50 years. He returned home to celebrate his Mother's 95th Birthday after 42 years. While visiting, he had a chance to worship with her at Mt. Olive AME Church where he grew up. Clifton Jr. was loved and we were so blessed to have seen and spoken to him before he transitioned. He was alert and very happy when he heard his mother's voice. His greatest pride and joy were his grandson, Noel and his mother, Jennifer Rheinhart. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Elizabeth Grainger; two sons, Clifton Donald Grainger, and Mike Grainger; his mother, Thelma B. Grainger; his twin sisters, Janice Barfield (Jonathan) and Joyce Grady (Eldridge); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
