Claudius Wayne
Davis
September 29, 1965 – June 8, 2022
Graveside service will be 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the Dark Branch Cemetery, Winnabow, NC. Visitation is from 6-8:00 P.M. on Friday.
On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, God whispered silently unto Claudius Wayne Davis' (lovingly known as Toot) ears and said, "My son, you have worked and toiled enough. Come go home to my house, and I will give you rest. Rest from all that burdens you at this moment." God transitioned Claudius Wayne from his earthly home to his heavenly kingdom. Claudius Wayne Davis was born on September 29, 1965, in Wilmington, North Carolina to Alexander Davis and Mary Davis (Delts). He was educated in the New Hanover County School System and graduated from John T. Hoggard High School in 1983. Upon graduation, he enlisted and served in the United States Army. After his Honorable Discharge, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he began his civilian life and became a licensed mortician, before changing course and going to work for the United States Postal Service, where he worked for 25 years. Everyone affectionately knew Claudius as Wayne in Atlanta and Toot in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was a diehard fan of the Atlanta Falcons and was a lifelong season ticket holder. He also had a lifelong love of gardening. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his son, Brandon Lawson of Boston, MA; his daughter, Zariah Davis of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Ja'Daryl Rainey, Marquel Brown and Zavion Robbins; his mother, Mary Davis and father, Alexander Davis of Wilmington, NC and Winnabow, NC; four brothers; Gerald Delts (Jackie), Edward A. Davis (Angela), Allen D. Davis (Teresa) and Ronald L. Davis; adopted brothers, Kenneth McMillian and Howard L. Delts; three sisters, Donita Davis Bannerman (Elliott), Sabrina Davis and Patricia Davis Lloyd (Matthew) all of Wilmington, NC; four aunts, Pearl Brummel of Winnabow, NC, Georgiana Morris of Camden, NJ, Lorraine Davis of New Jersey and Judith Davis Randolph of Bolivia, NC; two uncles, Bruce Davis of Wilmington, NC and Larry Davis of Acme Delco, NC; 23 nephews and nieces; seven great-nephews and great-nieces.
