Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church; 7500 Carolina Beach Road. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.  Visitation is from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Charlotte Pittman Atwood of Wilmington, North Carolina, daughter of the late Anna Pittman and Clarence Pittman, Sr., was born on June 2, 1932.  She quietly passed into eternity at her home on Monday, March 31, 2025.  Charlotte was affectionately called "Mother Charlotte" by her family and church members of Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church where she attended for 70 plus years.  She retired from Century Mills, Inc. and a second retirement from the YMCA of Wilmington, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband John T. Atwood of (Seabreeze) Wilmington, NC; four brothers and two sisters. She leaves to cherish fond memories: four daughters and three sons: Jacqueline Pittman Cureton (Donald) of Charlotte, NC, Tommy Atwood of Wilmington, NC, Timothy Atwood of Seattle, WA, Verna Atwood of Wilmington, NC, Roslyn Atwood of Southfield, MI, Davida Atwood of Atlanta, GA and Karl Atwood of Battle Creek, MI; sixteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Delores Pittman of Wilmington, NC, Caroline Pittman Damon of Bronx, NY and Anna Pittman Hackett of Sacramento, CA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special adopted families.
