Charles Thomas King Ill, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many, earned his heavenly wings on October 23, 2024, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center - Novant Health, in Wilmington, NC, with his brother and fiancée by his side. He fought until the end and went peacefully to be with the Lord while at rest. Charles was affectionately called "Chuckie". He was born in Wilmington, NC, on May 23, 1958, to the late Charles and Margaret King. He graduated from Hoggard High School in 1976, where he was the first male cheerleader. Chuckie served several years in the United States Army, where he served honorably. After his military service, he studied at Livingstone College, in Salisbury, NC. Chuckie was known for his body-building skills while in the military and college. He loved to preach and sing in churches, at special events and karaoke nights. That is where he found his voice and his love to sing, especially gospel and Louis Armstrong songs. Chuckie could fix anything. He was a handyman for many in the Wilmington area. He truly enjoyed his job at the hardware store where his co-workers became his family.  Charles was baptized at an early age. He loved the Lord and became an ordained minister. He served in several churches throughout his Christian Ministry, including Zion Chapel AME Church and Carvers Creek Church.  Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles T. King Il, and Margaret King, and his grandparents. Left to cherish his memory ...his brothers John Darrell, Gregory, Nathan and Andre; his children Artemus Settles (Jennifer), Charles T King (Sheryl), William Wooten, and Bryant Oakley; his fiancée', Cheryl Richardson; seven grandchildren; his aunt, Ida King; special sisters: Debra Sidberry, Desiree, Vickie, Cheryl, Elaine, Mona, Carol and Pinkie; special brothers: Bill Williams and Spero Pekatos; his lifelong companion, Nana Spears, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
