Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church, Riegelwood, NC.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Carl F. Beatty of Leland, North Carolina was called to eternal rest on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center/Novant. Carl, the son of the late Willie Beatty, Sr. and Gladys I. Beatty of Leland, North Carolina, and the late Gerlene Brown of Riegelwood, North Carolina, was born August 17, 1957, in Leland, North Carolina.  Carl joined Reaves Chapel as a youth and was a faithful and active member.  He served with the Sunday school, usher board, choir, and attended all events as well as being a delegate.  Reaves Chapel closed, and he moved his membership to Mount Pleasant AME Zion Church in Riegelwood, North Carolina where he served as a Pastor Steward, President of the male choir, attended Sunday School and Class Leader of Class #4.  He also served in any capacity where there was a need. Carl graduated from North Brunswick High School in the Class of 1975.  He was employed with General Electric in Castle Hayne, North Carolina and after 42 years of service, he was able to retire as a set-up operator. Carl loved his family and spending time with them. He was stern at times, and he was very passionate about cars, fishing, gardening, and most of all cooking. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by: his sisters, Ella Beatty, Vivian Beatty, Betty Jean Bell, and Juanita Ballard; his brothers, Willie Beatty, Jr., Kenneth Beatty, James Beatty, Herbert Beatty, James Brown, Jr., and Michael Brown and his grandson, Ali Rouse. Surviving to cherish his memory are: his loving wife, Shelia Beatty of the home; children, Winifred Ellerby of Wilmington, NC, Antawne Beatty (Jennifer) of Leland, NC, Nakiel Covington of Wilmington, NC and Gregory Hall of Beulaville, NC; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel B. Hill of Burkeville, VA, Marie McMillan (Robert) and Marilyn Troy (Terry) all of Leland, NC, Cheryl Smith (Dennie) of Hamilton, OH, Johnnie Greene of Raleigh, NC, Mary Toomer and Shirley Gibbs (Ronnie) all of Leland, NC and Rose Robbins of Fayetteville, NC; brothers,  Arthur Beatty, Wayne Robbins (Teresa), Samuel Robbins, and Alexander Robbins of Leland, NC, Herbert Robbins (Patricia) of Charleston, SC, Johnnie Robbins, Jr. of Gastonia, NC, Ricky Robbins of Wallace, NC and Israel Robbins of Virginia; brother-in-law, Darrell Hall (Loria) of Kenansville, NC; Michael Hall of Greenville, NC and Dr. William Ballard of Leland, NC; sisters-in-law, Genevieve Beatty and Patricia "Penny" Beatty both of Wilmington, NC; mother-in-law, Wilma Hall of Beulaville, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
