April Denise McNeil was born May 2, 1989, the younger daughter of Ralph McNeil and Patricia Fogle Moore. She departed this life peacefully Thursday, September 19, 2024, after a very courageous battle with sickness.  April graduated from John T. Hoggard High School in 2007. She loved and spent countless hours creating arts and crafts. April also loved doing nails and she enjoyed the different fragrances of candles. She was a great baker and would often sell brownies and other sweets. Under the guidance of her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Rosa Lee McNeil, April began attending Saint Mark Free Will Baptist Church here in Wilmington at a very young age. She was very active at St. Mark. There she learned about her Savior Jesus Christ and regularly attended Sunday School, sang on the children's choir and served on the junior usher board. As a young adult April re-dedicated her life to Jesus Christ and joined LifePoint Church in her hometown. There her faith in God grew as she and her two sons worshipped and fellowshipped there on a regular basis. April spent most of her free time with her sons. If you saw her, they were close by. She enjoyed skating with them and attending the many family gatherings. Although she was a little shy to some, April had a great sense of humor. She would make you laugh. She also loved listening to and singing gospel music. Her recent favorite was by Marvin Sapp, "Never Would Have Made It".  Many late nights her sister Angel would find her playing gospel music fueling her strength and resilience. As April struggled with affliction, she held on to her God and her faith in Him. The way she endured and fought is a testament of her faith. She would call for prayers even in her last two days on this side. Nearing the end of her journey here, she spoke loudly while speaking only with a whisper. She was tired and she called on God to rescue her. She fought a good fight, she finished her course, she kept the faith.
