Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at God's Royal Family Church of God; 302 Southern Blvd. Burial will follow in the Pine Forest cemetery. Visitation is from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Anthony Barnhill, affectionately known to many as "Amp", was born October 19, 1954, in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late Willie and Lillian Barnhill. Anthony peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare. He was preceded in death by his brothers, George Murphy and Willie Barnhill, Jr. Anthony attended Williston and Hoggard High School. He later joined Job Corps during the 70's. Anthony met the love of his life, Tara, and in 1996 they were married in Charleston, South Carolina. To this union one son was born, Johnathan Barnhill. Anthony was also blessed with a bonus daughter, Whitney Johnson, whom he raised as his own. A passionate Minister, Evangelist and Intercessor, Anthony never missed an opportunity to share the Gospel. Whether in church, playing the piano for strangers at the hospital or just during a hospital visits, he witnessed boldly and lovingly, drawing many to Christ through his words and more powerfully through his smile. Anthony leaves to cherish his wonderful memories: His Lovely wife for 29 years, Tara Barnhill; one son: Johnathan Barnhill; one Daughter: Whitney Johnson; five brothers: Harry Barnhill, Michael Barnhill (Brenda), Ronnie Barnhill (Melissa), Reginald Barnhill, and William Barnhill; two sisters: Rosalyn Ragin and Ruby Thomas; two uncles: Edward Barnhill and Bobby Murphy; four aunts: Christine Brown (Juluis), Lavern Murray, Jerrie Teachey; and Earline Barnhill; one sister-in-Law: Betty Murphy; A special friend: Elder Carlos Flowers; and a host of cousins, family members and friends.
