Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at New Christian Chapel Baptist Church; 2283 NC Hwy 11 South; Rose Hill, NC 28058.  Burial will follow in the Wilson Family Cemetery, Wallace, NC.  Visitation will be from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Annie Ruth Coston Wilson was born on May 27, 1927, in Cypress Creek, Duplin County North Carolina to the late John Robert and Rena Moore Coston. She gained her wings on December 13, 2022, in Wilmington, North Carolina.  Annie Ruth joined New Christian Chapel Baptist Church in 1944 and was a faithful member her entire life. She attended Duplin County schools and graduated as Salutatorian from Rose Hill High School in Rose Hill, North Carolina in the Class of 1944. She also attended James Sprunt Community College.  Earlier in her professional life Annie Ruth worked as a Teacher's Aide at C.W. Dobbins Elementary School in Wallace, North Carolina. Later she worked for the Duplin County Services for the Aged, serving as their Meals on Wheels Coordinator. She enjoyed being of service to her family, her community, and her church.  Among many things she will be remembered for are spending time with her family and friends, cooking favorite meals, sewing for her family, cultivating and caring for her plants and flowers, and her quick witted and humorous conversations. Annie Ruth joined Herbert Wilson in holy matrimony in 1950 and spent over thirty happy years together until his death, April 18, 1982.  She was preceded in death by three sisters, Inez Coston, Mary Beatrice Henry, and Lucille Kinsey Woodard and three brothers, Willie Kinsey, James Coston, and Alfred Coston.  She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her daughter,  Wanda W. Poole of Leland, NC; her two granddaughters whom she raised in the home, Nicole Queen of Clinton, MD and Raquel Wilson of Leland, NC and her youngest granddaughter, Zuwena Poole of Atlanta, GA; five great-grandchildren, Nadiya McQuillan (Donti) of Wilmington, NC, Sydney Wilson of Leland, NC and Kayla Perkins, Joshua Parker and Jacob Parker all of Atlanta, GA; seven great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Shirley Cooper of Queens, NY; a special grandniece, Chiquita Carter (Rick) of Long Island, NY; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
