Obituary

Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. on Friday. December 22, 2023, at Spring Green Missionary Baptist Church, 5417 Port Royal Road, Riegelwood, NC.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation is from 5-7:00 P.M. on Thursday at Spring Green.  Mother Annie Lucinda Pellom Bryant was born October 30, 1940, to the late Jermon M. and Hazel Clay Pellom, in Delco, North Carolina.  In 1949, Jermon Pellom passed away and Hazel C. Pellom married Linston Robinson; together they raised four children, including "Cinda".  She attended Brunswick County Schools and graduated from Lincoln High School.  Annie worked at Lincoln Primary School as a kindergarten teacher for twenty-three years, before retiring to take care of her mother.  When her mother passed away in 1996, she returned to Brunswick County Schools, as a substitute teacher in the Exceptional Children's Department.  At an early age Mother Bryant joined Christian Hope Christian Church.  She worked in the youth ministry until 1977. Then, she became a member of the Spring Green Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Church Clerk for thirty years, sang in the choir, was a Sunday School Teacher, and hospitality committee member.  With joy, she gave her all to the Lord.  On June 26, 1960, Lucinda married the love of her life, the late Richard W. Bryant, Sr.; they were married for sixty-one years, until his demise in April of 2022.  For fourteen years, they lived in Long Island and Brooklyn, New York.  Seven children were blessed to this union; one preceded them in death, Felix M. Pellom.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, and three great grandchildren.  Cinda's hobbies included crocheting, reading, cooking, and hosting community, family, and friends.  Mother Bryant loved her family and church, but most of all, she loved the Lord.  Annie leaves to cherish her memories, four sons, Richard W. Bryant, Jr, (Louise), James A. Bryant (Sharon), Darrell V. Bryant (Alecia Matthews), and Brandon D. Bryant (Delores), two daughters Alecia B. Jiribe (Goodwin), and Shaquana B. Grate (Christian), thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Bobby Eugene Bryant, four sisters-in-law, Shirley Pellom, Cecile P. Bryant, Delores Bryant, and Jackie Bryant, a special cousin/sister, Annette P. Sloan, nephew Kelvin "Jerome" Pellom, two children dear to her heart, Bishop Peter D Halloway, and Mary R. Shipman, a devoted nurse, Jeannette Ellis, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
