Early Tuesday, September 24, 2024, God called Angelyn Prevorice Jones Moore from labor to reward. Angelyn, affectionately known as "Angie," was born to the late Willie K. Lofton, Jr., and the late Elizabeth Jones on November 2, 1950. Angie grew up in Leland under the care of her mother; her grandparents, Frank and Jannie Jones; and her aunt Adell Jones. What was Angie like as a child? Her aunt would proudly say, "Angelyn was just a good child; I never had to spank her." Angie had a reserved, sweet spirit and was always neat, clean, and stylish. She attended Lincoln High School but graduated from Leland High School in 1970 as the valedictorian. She received a partial scholarship to attend Miller-Motte Business College, graduating from the Professional Secretarial program. Upon graduation, she was employed by General Electric, received several promotions, and retired after 38 years as the Senior Executive Administrative Assistant for the Aircraft Engines Department & Plant Manager. Angie attended Mt. Calvary AME Church (Navassa, NC) during her childhood, serving as the Sunday School secretary, a pianist for the Youth Choir, an usher, and a delegate for the Sunday School Convention. After her marriage, she attended Myrtle Grove AME Church (Leland, NC) and served as a Sunday School teacher; a pianist for the choirs; a leader in Vacation Bible School; the typist for church programs/bulletins; and a volunteer, performing whatever tasks she could to uplift God's kingdom. Angie was preceded in death by her son, Martti Tavella Jones Moore, and one brother, Thurman Mosley. Cherishing her memory are her husband, Calvin L. Moore of the home; daughter, Yulonda D. Moore of Goodyear, AZ; granddaughter, Jalyn Moore-Dugan of Goodyear, AZ; brother, Dean Mosley of Bolton, NC; aunt, Essie Willis of Gwynn Oak, MD; special cousins, Orangel, Viniski, Xavian, and Vertrice Daniels; sisters-in-law, Darleene Heath (Wendell) of Durham, NC, and Annie Mosley of Leland, NC; brothers-in-law, Dale, Ronnie (Gwendolyn) and Robert (Annette) Moore of Leland, NC; godchildren, Twana Beatty, Samantha Huffman, and Whitney Williams; and other relatives and friends.
