A short visitation and funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, May 20, 2022, at the Willie L. Shaw Jr. Memorial Chapel.

Andre L. Tilghman was born January 11, 1978 to Laurice Long and the late Charles Tilghman in Wilmington, North Carolina.  He departed his earthly home on May 12, 2022.  Andre was educated in the New Hanover County Public School System.  "Dre", as he was affectionately called, was known for his infectious smile and his love for music.  He was an excellent and talented DJ and he taught many others the skill.  Dre also loved working outdoors doing landscaping.  Dre was a major caregiver for his late grandmother, Mrs. Elaine Nix.  He really enjoyed every minute with her.  He was a very loving and caring individual who loved his family, his music and his friends.  Left to cherish his memories are: his sons, Jmeriquan Dandre Tilghman and Treyquan Laver Tilghman; three grandchildren, Saina Andrews, Kartier Tilghman and Kashshae Tilghman; his mother, Laurice Long (Clayton); brother, Carlos Jihaad Tilghman; a special aunt, Harriett Williamson (Charles) of Leland, NC; aunts, Phyllis Drye (Alphonso) of Jacksonville, FL and Donna Allen of Castle Hayne, NC; uncles, Ricky Allen (Emil) and Terry Allen (Jessica) all of Wilmington, NC and Jerry Williams of Castle Hayne, NC; nephews, Darian and Omarion Tilghman; his significant other, Missy Chessman; his second mother, Thedius Gaines; special cousins, Demarus Baldwin, Terrence Allen, Jermaine Allen, Sparkle Allen, Elaina Allen and Nakpangi McClam;  other relatives and friends, including his special friends, Kendric Grady, Ernest McKoy, Angela Gaines and Freddie Carr.
