Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at St. Mary Baptist Church, Winnabow, NC. Burial will follow in the Dark Branch Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.
Reverend Alexander Elliott Davis answered the Master's call on Sunday, June 16, 2024, following a brief illness. He was the second oldest of nine children born to the late Richard and Minnie Davis. He is preceded in death by seven of his siblings Joe Nathan, Linda, Richard Jr., Jesse, Lorraine, Vivian and Larry; and a son, Claudius Davis. During his early years he attended and graduated from Brunswick County Training School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army where he served in the Korean War. After serving in the military he returned to Winnabow, North Carolina where he married and started a family. He was a proud worker at Grandma's Molasses Company and worked there until his retirement. He became an ordained AME minister in the late 70's and pastored several AME congregations. Over the years he was a longshoreman supervisor and a member of Pythagoras Lodge # 6. He is survived by: his children, Gerald (Jackie) of Winnabow, NC, Edward (Angela) of Atlanta, GA, Donita (Elliott) of Wilmington, NC, Allen (Theresa) of Atlanta, GA, Sabrina of Wilmington, NC, Patricia (Matthew) of Leland, NC, Ronald of Atlanta, GA and Angela Cottle of Irvington, NJ; seventeen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; his brother, Bruce Davis of Wilmington, NC and his sister Judith Randolph (Willie) of Bolivia, NC; a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
