Graveside service will be 2:00 P.M. on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Pine Forest Cemetery .  Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday.

Alan Leroy Johnson was born in Manhattan, New York, on October I, 1967, to Willie and Joan Johnson. The third child in a family of seven.  Alan was always rambunctious with a quick response to any argument.  Alan was educated in the New Hanover County School System and received his General Education Degree from Job Corps in Knoxville, Tennessee.  He also received an Associate degree in Plumbing from Cleveland Community College in Shelby, North Carolina, and a certification in Basic Horticulture from Cape Fear Community College.  Alan formed a great love for music at an early age and was known as the designated DJ for family events.  Outside of his passion for music, Alan wholeheartedly loved his family and could be relied upon to offer advice and support to anyone who needed him, especially his siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He had a special relationship with his cousin Jermaine Thomas and absolutely adored his granddaughter Amani.  Alan is survived by his son Alan Johnson Jr., his parents, Willie and Joan Johnson of Wilmington, NC; one granddaughter Amani Johnson of Charlotte NC; four brothers, Willie (Peggy) Columbus, GA, Michael of Wilmington, NC, Timothy (Binta) Atlanta, GA, and Craig (Stephanie) Birmingham, AL; three half-brothers, William, David, and Tyrone Lane; two sisters, Tabatha (Antoine) Atlanta, GA, Tina (Kevin) Burlington, NC., and a half-sister Willisa Dowd, Wilmington, NC: two aunts, Carolyn and Patricia Thomas of Wilmington, NC, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and three special daughters in love, Dezerah, Shonda Witherspoon and Kiyra Jones.
